Quick Tips

Here is some extra tip to go with the video. Try it on your computer!

Folder picture and icon

Right click folder > Properties > Customize.
Choose File — put picture on folder (show in Large icon view).
Change Icon — choose new icon. You can use your own .ico file.

Open with specific program

Right click file > Open with > Choose another app, tick Always use this app.
Or go Settings > Apps > Default apps.

Quick Access

Right click folder > Pin to Quick access.
Or drag folder to Quick access on left side of File Explorer.

File Explorer

Windows + E — open File Explorer.
Ctrl + Shift + N — make new folder.
Ctrl + Shift + 6 — Details view, Ctrl + Shift + 2 — Large icons.
View > File name extensions — show .pdf, .docx, .exe... Good to see fake file with virus!

Compress and extract

Compress: select file, right click > Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
Extract: right click .zip file > Extract All.

Delete folder that cannot delete

Close all program, or restart computer, then try again.
Open Command Prompt and type: rd /s /q "C:\path\to\folder".
Be careful! Command delete direct, not go to Recycle Bin.

Backup to external hard disk

Settings > Update & Security > Backup > Add a drive to turn on File History.
Backup at least one time every week.

Windows Defender

Open Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Quick scan.
Scan USB: right click USB drive > Scan with Microsoft Defender.
Need deep scan? Choose Scan options > Full scan.

User account

Settings > Accounts > Family & other users > Add someone else to this PC.
Give other people Standard user, not Administrator. More safe!

Shut down command

Press Windows + R, type command and press Enter:

Command	What it do
`shutdown /s /t 0`	Shut down now
`shutdown /r /t 0`	Restart now
`shutdown /s /t 3600`	Shut down after 1 hour (3600s)
`shutdown /a`	Cancel shut down timer

Make shut down icon: right click desktop > New > Shortcut, type shutdown /s /t 0.

Split screen

Windows + Left / Windows + Right — snap window half screen.
Windows + Up / Windows + Down after snap — make it quarter (4 part).
Windows + Tab — see all open window.
