Quick Beginner Tips

Here is some extra tip to go with the video. Try it on your computer!

Taskbar and desktop

Hide search box (Windows 10): right click taskbar > Search > Hidden or Show search icon.
Hide search box (Windows 11): Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Search and choose Hide.
Hide or show all desktop icon: right click desktop > View > Show desktop icons.
Show This PC and Recycle Bin icon: Settings > Personalization > Themes > Desktop icon settings.

Uninstall program

Settings > Apps > Installed apps (Windows 11) or Apps & features (Windows 10), click program and choose Uninstall.
Old way: press Windows + R, type appwiz.cpl and press Enter.

Run command for Office

Press Windows + R, type the command and press Enter:

Program	Command
Word	`winword`
Excel	`excel`
PowerPoint	`powerpnt`
Access	`msaccess`

Some other useful Run command: notepad, calc, mspaint, control (Control Panel).

Task Manager

Ctrl + Shift + Esc — open Task Manager direct.
Program not responding? Click it and choose End task.
Performance tab show CPU, RAM, disk and network use.

Power Options

Press Windows + R, type powercfg.cpl to open Power Options quick.
Set screen turn off after 5–10 minute to save battery.

Screenshot

Windows + Shift + S — open Snipping Tool to select area.
Windows + PrtScn — full screen and auto save to Pictures > Screenshots.
Alt + PrtScn — screenshot only active window.

Rename fast

Click file and press F2 to rename.
Rename many file: select all file (Ctrl + A), press F2, type new name and press Enter. Windows will name it like Photo (1), Photo (2), Photo (3)...
Press Tab when renaming to jump to next file.
