03 - Windows Server 2012 Promote First Domain Controller (Video in Khmer)

Hello my friend! Today I show you step-by-step how to Promote First Domain Controller on Windows Server 2012 R2 inside VMware! Very easy to follow with video tutorial in Khmer! Let's get started!

💡 Tip: Make sure you already set Static IP Address and Change Computer Name (example: SRV2012-DC01) before starting AD DS setup!

Step 1: Install Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) Role

1. Open Server Manager > click Add roles and features.
2. Click Next > select Role-based or feature-based installation > click Next.
3. Select your server from pool > click Next.
4. Check Active Directory Domain Services > click Add Features > click Next.
5. Click Next > Next > Install.

💡 Tip: After install finish, click yellow flag notification icon at top right corner of Server Manager to start promote domain controller directly!

Step 2: Promote Server to Domain Controller (Create New Forest)

1. Click yellow flag icon in Server Manager > click Promote this server to a domain controller.
2. Select Add a new forest > enter Root domain name (example: mydomain.local) > click Next.
3. Keep functional level as Windows Server 2012 R2 > enter strong DSRM password > click Next.
4. Click Next for DNS Options > Next for NetBIOS name > Next for Paths.
5. Click Next on Review Options > click Install when prerequisite check pass.
6. Server will automatically restart! After reboot, log in with MYDOMAIN\Administrator.

💡 Tip: Save your DSRM password in safe place! You need it if Active Directory database broken and require repair mode!
