02 - How to Install Windows Server 2022 with Hyper-V (Video Tutorial in Khmer)

Hello my friend! Today I show you step-by-step how to install Windows Server 2022 on virtual machine using Hyper-V! Very easy to follow with code steps and video tutorial in Khmer! Let's get started!

Step 1: Download ISO & Enable Hyper-V Feature

Before create virtual machine (VM), your computer need ISO file and Hyper-V feature enabled on Windows 10 or Windows 11.

1. Download Windows Server 2022 ISO: Go to Microsoft Evaluation Center website and download official Windows Server 2022 ISO file.
2. Open Windows Features: Press Windows key, type Turn Windows features on or off, and press Enter.
3. Turn On Hyper-V: Check box Hyper-V (make sure check both Hyper-V Management Tools and Hyper-V Platform inside). Click OK button.
4. Restart Computer: Click Restart Now when Windows ask reboot to finish install Hyper-V!

💡 Tip: If Hyper-V Platform option is grayed out or cannot check, make sure you enable Virtualization Technology (VT-x / AMD-V) inside your computer BIOS/UEFI settings first!

Step 2: Create Virtual Machine in Hyper-V Manager

After your computer restart finish, now we open Hyper-V and create new virtual machine!

1. Open Hyper-V Manager: Search Hyper-V Manager in Start menu and open it.
2. Start New VM Wizard: On right side Actions pane, click New > Virtual Machine, then click Next.
3. Name & Generation: Type name for your VM (example: Win-Server-2022). Select Generation 2 (support modern UEFI firmware and security features).
4. Allocate RAM Memory: Assign at least 4096 MB (4 GB) RAM for smooth running.
5. Configure Network: Select Default Switch from network drop-down so your server can connect internet.
6. Attach Windows Server ISO: Select Install an operating system from a bootable image file, click Browse, and select Windows_Server_2022.iso file you downloaded!

💡 Tip: Always choose Generation 2 for Windows Server 2022 because it gives faster boot speed, TPM support, and UEFI firmware!

Step 3: Install Windows Server 2022 OS

Now hardware virtual setup finish, let's boot VM and install Windows Server 2022!

1. Boot Virtual Machine: Right-click your new VM in Hyper-V list, click Connect, then click Start button in window.
2. Press Any Key to Boot: When screen show Press any key to boot from CD or DVD..., press Enter or Spacebar quickly!
3. Run Windows Setup: Select language, click Install Now.
4. Choose Desktop Experience (GUI): When select OS edition, choose Windows Server 2022 Standard (Desktop Experience)!

⚠️ Warning: If you select edition WITHOUT "(Desktop Experience)", Windows will install Server Core (only black command prompt window, no desktop GUI screen)! Make sure select Desktop Experience if you want full GUI desktop window!
